The Basement Tapes

"This show rewarded my attention on every single level. The recordings were weird and poetic, and the beginning opens this big question of how much of is real versus how much of this is practiced. And Stella Reid's physical performance is amazing." - The Pantograph Punch (NZ)

"★★★★1/2" - The Melbourne Age, Sydney Herald

A hit of the 2017 NZ Fringe Festival and the 2017 Melbourne Fringe Festival, The Basement Tapes is a solo show about a girl clearing out Grandmother’s house following her death, a girl stumbles across a suitcase of tapes. Surprised by this among the usual detritus, the girl becomes obsessed with her Grandmother’s piecemeal recordings. But can we trust the Grandmother as a reliable narrator? Not to mention becoming suspicious of the girl herself…
